KGIC is a testing institution that has been officially reported/registered as a genetic testing institution and research institution with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
It is a highly reliable genetic testing institution recognized as an "A-grade testing institution" in the annual genetic test accuracy evaluation conducted by the 'Korea Institute of Genetic Assessment', an evaluation agency of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It is an "internationally accredited testing institution" recognized as an internationally accredited testing institution.

In addition, as an inspection institution that regularly participates in proficiency evaluations conducted twice a year by the 'National Institute for Scientific Investigation' and the 'Korea Institute of Genetic Testing and Evaluation', it has established a scientific and accurate database network to provide accuracy of over 99.99% (Paternity Verification). do. We always do our best to provide customers with accurate inspection results in an optimal inspection environment.

The genetic locus used for the test may be different for each testing institution, but if the test is performed using an internationally verified (already confirmed through data in many countries) loci such as our KGIC, the same value at the same locus is expressed.
Our KGIC analyzes using more than 15 genes, including 13 genes designated by the US FBI CODIS, to provide more reliable test results.
In addition, in order to provide our customers with more credible test results, KGIC provides various conditions (test methods and test environment/facility, etc.) that can derive test results certified by the Korean Accreditation Organization (KOLAS) of the International Accreditation Organization (ILAC). It is a genetic testing institution that has been evaluated as a "KOLAS International Authorized Testing Institution".

Genetic testing service items

• Paternity Confirmation: This is a test that examines whether the genotype of the parent/parent and the genotype of the child inherited from the parent match each other and determines the possibility of paternity through statistical analysis.
• Paternity confirmation: This is a method to test the paternal blood relationship by examining the STR gene that exists in the Y chromosome, which only males have.
• Maternal line confirmation: This is a method to test the blood relationship according to the maternal line by analyzing the nucleotide sequence of a specific region (overmutation region) of mtDNA using the characteristics of mitochondria that are inherited only through the mother line.
• DNA profile/identical person test: It is a method of testing the unique genotype of each individual using DNA extracted from samples (blood, body fluids, hair roots, cigarette butts, bloodstains, toothbrushes, etc.). It is a test that confirms whether the evidence collected in the case and a specific person (suspect) are the same person.
• Semen confirmation test: Based on the principle of immunochromatography, PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) present in male semen is reacted with a specific antibody to quickly determine the presence or absence of semen.
• Blood confirmation test: This is a test method that can quickly determine the presence or absence of bloodstains by reacting hemoglobin in human blood with specific antibodies based on the principle of immunochromatography.

Disease-related genetic testing

• Cancer diagnostic test: Since cancer cells are cells with high viability, early diagnosis at the molecular level through oncogene testing is one of the most ideal test methods.
• Adult disease test: This is a genetic analysis method that predicts and treats adult diseases such as Alzheimer's, old age, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, obesity, and alcoholic liver disease in advance.
• Avellino Corneal Dystrophy Test: The Bigh-3 gene related to Avellino's corneal dystrophy is inherited from the parents, so it is important to prevent it through Avellino's corneal dystrophy test if you are considering ophthalmic surgery.

Animal and plant-related genetic testing

• Korean native cattle(Hanwoo) test: Like humans, cows have their own genotype, and it is an individual identification test using this. In addition, it is possible to discriminate Korean beef through a special gene unique to Korean native cattle(Hanwoo).
• Dog testing: Like humans, dogs have their own genotype, so individual identification and paternity testing are possible using this.
• Animal Species Discrimination Test: This is a test method that can determine the gene of a specific species through DNA testing in animal/plant species such as meat, fish, molluscs, crustaceans, and nuts.

Tests for submission/confirmation are classified only for ‘Paternity/family relative confirmation test’ and are classified as follows.

Inspection for submission to public institutions

• Prosecution (legal effect) to be submitted to public institutions (other institutions) for the purpose of proof of fact
• After checking the identity by the center staff, sample collection (visit/business trip collection)
• Inspection request form, consent form, identification of subject
• Transcripts in format for submission


• Since the collection must be done by the staff of the center (inspection institution), it is possible for the test subjects to visit the center or request a business trip.
• Follow the guidance of the staff and fill out the referral form and consent form.
• You must present identification of all test subjects.
• If the test subject is a minor, the legal representative of the inspector gives ‘written consent’ and submits documents to confirm the relationship with the inspector.

Test for confirmation

• Prosecution conducted for the purpose of proving personal facts (no legal effect)
• After the individual collects the test subject (or object), visit / mail
• Inspection request/consent form, applicant's ID
• Certificate for verification


• After collection by the inspector or the applicant, it is possible to visit the center or receive it through mail. (A business trip cannot be requested for an test for confirmation.)
• After downloading/writing the test request form and consent form from the ‘Reference Room – Test Application Documents’ category on the website, it is sent with the specimen.
• Basically, it is an anonymous test, and it is possible to proceed as a real name test if the ID of the test subject is attached.
• If the real name test subject is a minor, the legal representative of the inspector gives ‘written consent’ and submits documents to confirm the relationship with the inspector.

How to apply for genetic testing
Paternity/family relative verification test and DNA profile/identical person test: Before applying for the test, check the purpose of the test (for submission/confirmation) before proceeding.

Test for submission

• Inspectors visit the center in person or apply for a business trip if it is difficult to visit. (Bring ID)
• Follow the guidance of the staff and fill out the referral form and consent form.
• If the inspector is a minor, the legal representative of the inspector gives ‘written consent’ and submits documents to confirm the relationship with the inspector.

Check for confirmation

• After collection by the inspector or the applicant, it is possible to visit the center or receive it by mail. (A business trip cannot be requested for an inspection for confirmation.)
• After downloading/writing the test request form and consent form from the ‘Reference Room – Test Application Documents’ category on the website, it is sent with the specimen.
• Basically, it is an anonymous test, and it is possible to proceed with a real name test if the ID of the subject is attached.

Semen/blood test
: Collect the specimen and visit the center or receive it by mail. When submitting by mail, download the inspection request form, fill it out, and enclose it. In the case of semen and blood test specimens, it is recommended to apply after confirming through consultation as the test result may be affected depending on the state of the specimen or storage state.

Disease-related tests
: Disease-related tests are carried out by request (consignment) from a medical institution. (For individual requests, please use the relevant hospital/clinic.) Animal/plant related inspection
: Animal/plant-related tests may have an effect on the detection rate depending on the condition of the specimen (collection time/collection method/decay level, etc.), so it is advisable to apply after receiving advice on precautions and inspection through consultation.

Required documents for inspection application

The following required documents are applicable to paternity/family relative test and DNA profile/identical person test. Please check the required documents according to the item and apply for the test.
1) Genetic test request form
2) Consent form for genetic testing
3) Copy of ID Card (applicant, inspector)
4) Family relationship certificate or copy of resident registration (for checking the relationship between the inspector and the legal representative when testing minors)

※ If the inspector is a minor, consent to inspection is made by a legal representative and documents proving the relationship must be attached.

Inspection period and required time
Our center conducts test twice a day for the convenience of customers who request it, and in the case of paternity test / paternity confirmation test, we have introduced an test system that allows you to receive the results of the same day when you receive it in the morning, so it is always more accurate and quick. We are doing our best to provide inspection service.
You can receive the test service faster by checking the test progress time for each test item and applying.

Morning reception

• Reception hours : 10:00
• Result information : 18:00 on the day
• Issuance of report: next morning

Afternoon reception

• Reception hours: 16:00
• Result announcement: 13:00 the next day
• Certificate issuance: the afternoon of the next day

※ The above reception schedule is based on weekdays (Monday-Thursday) and for general specimens, it is the reception schedule (one entry at 13:00 pm on Fridays).
※ General sample: hair (hair root), cotton swab (oral epithelial cells), blood (liquid).
※ Special specimens: All specimens except general specimens.





Family Confirmation / Paternity Confirmation / DNA Profile / Same Person Test

• The inspection reception and required time are the same as the above reception schedule.
• Example 1) Reception at 09:30 am on the 10th (Monday) → Information on results at 18:00 pm on the 10th (Monday/the same day) → Issuance of transcripts in the morning of the 11th (Tuesday/next day).
• Example 2) 10th (Monday) 14:00 pm reception → 11th (Tuesday/next day) 13:00 pm Result information → 11th (Tuesday/next day) report issuance.
• If the requested specimen is a special specimen, it takes 2-3 days to inform the results.
• When a mutation occurs in the analysis of results, additional genetic testing/analysis is required and additional analysis period is required.

Maternity test

• Because the inspection method is different, the inspection reception time is the same as above, but the required time is added by 1 to 2 days.
• Example 1) 10th (Monday) 09:30 am received → 12th (Wednesday/next day) 13:00 pm Result information → 12th (Wednesday/next day) morning report issuance.
• Example 2) 10th (Monday) 14:00 pm Application → 13th (Thursday / 3 days later) 13:00 pm Results information → 13th (Thursday / 3 days later) report issuance.
• If the requested specimen is a special specimen, it takes 2-3 days to inform the results.
• When a mutation occurs in the analysis of results, additional genetic testing/analysis is required and additional analysis period is required.

Other tests (disease-related, animal/plant-related tests)

• The inspection reception time is the same as above, and a separate inquiry is required for the required time.

Management of test results
In order to protect the personal information and personal information of applicants (clients) and inspectors, the center assigns a password to the application at the time of inspection and confirms whether or not to agree to the online result confirmation, and reports on the inspection results online/offline other than the applicant himself/herself. We operate a system that prohibits any external export and verification.
In case of online request, you must enter the password designated by the applicant to view the result, and in case of offline inspection, we guide the test result after verifying the applicant's identity. We ask for your active cooperation/understanding even if it is inconvenient, and is managed/operated by KGIC. Please be aware of the existing results management system and consider it when applying.

In addition, we would like to inform you that a copy of the test report, the written test request form, and the test consent form, are stored/managed for 10 years in a secure, online/offline safe independent document storage room in accordance with the management guidelines of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
During the storage period, it is possible to view and apply for reissuance of the test results.
